RedRed Chews
My ginger chew and coconut chew are traditional Ghanaian snacks. The ginger chew is made from natural ginger and honey, with nothing else added. Similarly the ingredients of the coconut chew are coconut and honey. Both products are lovingly hand made.
My products are perfect on their own as sweet snacks. Equally I also use them as delicious topping on top on porridge, smoothies, warm tea lattes, hot chocolates, and basically anything including baking (as a topping on cheese cakes, biscuits, sponge cakes and my favourite, home baked sour dough bread).
I also use my ginger chew as an infusion when I need a pick me up: it’s heavenly refreshing in hot water with a slice of lemon any time of the day. And on special or festive occasions I infuse a small grain of my ginger chew in smokey dark rum or other suitable spirit like a good scotch whisky for a couple of hours. It also works a treat during the winter infused in hot toddy.
About Ginger

Ginger (botanical name Zingiber officinale) is in the same family as turmeric and cardamom. It is native to Southern Asia and has long been a staple addition to Asian cuisines.
Ginger’s current name comes from the Middle English gingivere, but ginger dates back over 3,000 years to the Sanskrit srngaveram meaning “horn root” with reference to its appearance.
Ginger is an ingredient that is heavily featured in Ghanaian cooking, from soups to sauces.
About Coconut

The coconut palm has been cultivated for thousands of years and has been so widely distributed by humans that today its centre of origin is uncertain and the subject of much speculation. Although its origin is believed to be the islands of the south pacific, the coconut itself is not the type of plant to remain static.
By being such a buoyant seed the coconut has traveled around the world by itself. With all that fibre and oil, it is the perfect botanical boat, and as such was able to populate much of the warm climates around the world. The original coconut is believed to be the tall growing variety with a thick husk, commonly found in the Philippines and northeastern Australia.
